Valuations sit at the heart of every commercial property decision: influencing deals, financing, and client trust. But how valuers access, interpret, and deliver insight is changing fast.
In this session, Kato’s Mike Avery and Joe Sumray are joined by Alex Kountourides, Co-founder of Valos (and a former valuer himself), to discuss how technology, automation, and real-time data are redefining the valuation process, plus what this means for agencies, landlords, and clients. Alex will share how Valos was founded to tackle the inefficiencies valuers face daily, how the platform uses data and automation to transform workflows, and what a truly modern valuer looks like in 2025.
Together, the panel will explore the practical applications of AI in valuations, the enduring importance of comparables, and how Kato’s integration with Valos helps create a more connected, data-driven CRE ecosystem.
Agenda:
- The biggest pain points in the valuation process today, and how modern agencies are tackling them.
- How valuers can harness real-time comparables, market data, and automation to increase accuracy and speed.
- What AI can (and can’t) do for valuers, and the art of balancing automation with professional judgment.
- Examples of collaboration between agents and valuers, connecting deal data and valuation workflows, such as the Kato × Valos integration.
- What defines the modern valuer: data-literate, tech-enabled, and client-focused.
Meet the Speakers
Mike Avery is the Co-founder and CEO of Kato, the CRM and data platform built for the UK commercial property market. He began developing a digital product in 2008 to help agents manage listings and enquiries more effectively, which became AgentsInsight in 2012. Under his leadership, the platform grew from a regional tool to an enterprise-grade solution adopted by major firms including JLL and several of the UK’s industrial and retail societies. In 2023, Mike guided Kato’s merger with digital leasing company Least, evolving the business into a collaborative, data-centric platform. Today, Mike leads Kato’s mission to transform CRE into a connected, data-driven industry — with Atlas at its centre.
Joe Sumray is the Lead Product Manager at Kato and brings nearly a decade of experience at the intersection of CRE data and technology. Formerly at EG, Joe helped develop EG Radius and led the team that built one of the industry’s first contributory data-sharing models. At Kato, he’s now focused on building the next generation of connected, real-time data platforms for agencies — helping turn information into action.
Alex Kountourides is a Co-founder of Valos, a UK technology company transforming the valuation process through data and automation. A qualified valuer by background, Alex saw first-hand how much time was lost to manual processes, inconsistent data, and fragmented systems. He founded Valos to fix those pain points — enabling valuers to generate compliant, data-rich reports in minutes rather than days. Under his leadership, Valos has become one of the UK’s leading valuation platforms, combining automation, AI, and market insight to help valuers focus on what they do best: applying expertise and judgment.
